Assessment

The assessment of students (throughout the semester) is composed of two components:
  • Theory: 2 mini tests (on discrete and continuous domains), assessing the knowledge acquired by the students on the basic concepts taught (e.g. modelling, constraint propagation and search).
  • Practice: 2 projects, that assess the ability of the students to apply and adapt the acquired knowledge to solve mid-sized constraint problems (on discrete and continuous domains),.

The final grade is the average of the Theory and Practice components, a minimum grade of 8.0 (in 20) being required in both (i.e. Theory: average of the 2 mini-tests and Practice: average of the 2 projects). A student obtains approval in the course if the final grade is no less than 9.5 (in 20).

The components of the assessment are the following (dates and hours to be confirmed):
  •
MiniTest1   -    Finite Domains            -    Thursday, 31 October, 20:30.

  •
Project_1    -    Finite Domains            -    announced on Thursday, 10 October,

Referenced paper                                      deadline Sunday, 3 November at 23:59

  •
MiniTest2   -    Continuous Domains   -    Wednesday, 11 December, 16:30.

  •
Project_2    -    Continuous Domains   -    announced on Thursday, 21 November ,
deadline Sunday, 8 December at 23:59

There is an optional exam, for students with a Practice component grade no less than 8.0. The exam has two parts (Finite and Continuous Domains - students may do only one part), whose grades replace the grades of the corresponding MiniTests (if not lower than the latter) in the computation of the final grade.
  • Final Exam   -    Finite and Continuous Domains   -    Thursday, 16 January, 13:00
